„… Ich lebe im Glauben an den Sohn Gottes, der mich geliebt und sich für mich hingegeben hat" (2, 20). Alles, was Paulus tut, geschieht von dieser Mitte her. Sein Glaube ist die Erfahrung des ganz persönlichen Geliebtseins von Jesus Christus; er ist Wissen darum, daß Christus nicht irgendwie ins Allgemeine hinein gestorben ist, sondern ihn – Paulus – geliebt hat und als Auferstandener ihn heute liebt; daß er für ihn sich gegeben hat. Sein Glaube ist das Getroffensein von der Liebe Jesu Christi, die ihn bis ins Innerste erschüttert und umwandelt. Sein Glaube ist nicht eine Theorie, nicht eine Meinung über Gott und die Welt. Sein Glaube ist das Auftreffen der Liebe Gottes in seinem Herzen. Und so ist dieser Glaube selbst Liebe zu Jesus Christus.

"... I live in the faith of the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me." All that Paul does starts from this center. His faith is the experience of being loved by Jesus Christ in a totally personal way; it is awareness of the fact that Christ faced death not for something anonymous, but for love of him, of Paul, and that, risen, Christ still loves him, has given himself for him. His faith is having been captured by the love of Jesus Christ, a love that affects him in his innermost being and transforms him. His faith is not a theory, an option about God or the world. His faith is the impact of the love of God on his heart. So, this faith itself is love of Jesus Christ.

"... Vivo en la fe del Hijo de Dios que me amó y se entregó a sí mismo por mí". Todo aquello que hace Pablo, parte de este centro. Su fe es la experiencia del ser amado por Jesucristo de manera totalmente personal; es la conciencia del hecho que Cristo ha enfrentado la muerte no por algo anónimo, sino por amor a él- a Pablo- y que, como resucitado, lo ama todavía, que Cristo se ha donado por él. Su fe es el ser alcanzado por el amor de Jesucristo, un amor que lo perturba hasta lo más íntimo y lo transforma. Su fe no es una teoría, una opinión sobre Dios o sobre el mundo. Su fe es el impacto del amor de Dios sobre su corazón. Y así, esta misma fe es amor por Jesucristo.
