Dear Sisters,

It has been awhile since I last posted a letter on our Web page. I thought it time to send you a few lines from our Sacred Heart Convent in Wilmette.

As you know the Lord had many other things in mind than the ones I had planned. The month of February found me in the hospital in Rome. Though all the doctors and nurses were vary caring it was not a place I really wanted to be. After some study and some falls it was decided that my blood pressure dropped suddenly at various times. Therefore I received a pace-maker. Sr. Adalberta kindly offered me a long vacation in the United States. And that is where I have been since April 1. The Sisters here have been most loving and the care is superb. I am grateful to the community for this time of recuperation. I plan to return to Rome on October 26.

I have missed my time with the Renewal Sisters and the Tertians. However, it is once again proven to me that no one is indispensable and the Lord is the director of all. My part has been that of praying for these special times. I also have the time to do much reading. A good book that I recommend to you is The Difference God Makes. It is written by Francis Cardinal George, O.P. and gives a Catholic vision of Faith, Communion and Culture.

The Lord has also reminded me that what is important is the consecrated life we lead and the life of prayer that we have. You may be sure that in that ministry I have been very active praying for all, especially our process of reconciliation. The Lord has provided time for me to be mystic and prophet in his way, not mine.

The celebration of my 65th Jubilee has also been a memorable occasion. The added joy was also celebrating with our Sisters from our Eastern Province. So with every suffering there is always a silver lining in our lives. I thank you for all the many cards, little gifts, Holy Masses and other prayers that I have received. It is this support that one finds in our congregation. Thank you one and all. Since I can’t write to each individually please take this as my personal greeting of gratitude.

Our Fourth of July celebration was special as the sisters in the area were here to join in rejoicing with the country that is ours. It gave us a time to celebrate the many good things of our country and for a brief time forget the many difficulties our country is experiencing. Along with all the fireworks that lit up the skies our prayers were also raised to ask blessing on our country.

With today’s technology I have been able to keep up with happenings in Rome and share what I can from a distance. I am looking forward to once again taking part in the activities of the Generalate. Please read Sr. DeSales long letter on our web page as she shares good information with everyone about activities in Rome.

Lovingly,

Sr. M. Judith
